Steamed Cabbage Rolls
Recipe for Steamed Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
- 500g ground chicken
- 2 pcs red onions, minced
- 1 pc medium carrot, minced (1 cup)
- 1 tsp of minced ginger (optional)
- 4 cloves of minced garlic
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 large cabbages or 1 large napa cabbage (for wrapping)
For the sauce:
- chili garlic oil
- Soy sauce
- Calamansi juice
Instructions:
- For the chicken filling: In a bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix well until everything is well combined. Set it aside.
- For the wrapper: Remove the core of the cabbages then separate cabbage leaves. Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for at least 3-4 minutes. Drain and let it cool completely.
- Lay one cabbage leaf flat on a surface. Slice the middle part of the cabbage in a triangular shape to remove the hard part of the cabbage. Add the filling in the middle (about 1-2 tbsp) then wrap the sides of it then roll.
- Steam the wrapped cabbage rolls for 10 minutes.
- For the sauce: combine chili oil, soy sauce, and calamansi juice depending on your preference.
- Serve cabbage rolls topped with sauce and enjoy.
