Korean Spicy BBQ

I have been using this recipe since a few years ago and it has been a family favorite ever since! If you like eating out for a samgyupsal, then you might wanna try this recipe so you can have one in your own home. Trust me, it is worth it.

Recipe for Korean Spicy BBQ

Ingredients:

  • 350g - 500g of bacon cut pork belly, or regular thinly sliced pork belly
  • 1/2 cup of pear or half a pear
  • 1/4 cup of white onion or half of whole onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 stalk of green onion, sliced
  • a thumb of ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp of brown sugar, you can use rice syrup for more authenticity
  • 2 tsp of sesame oil
  • 2-3 tbsp of hot pepper paste, gochujang

Instructions:
  1. Prepare your pork belly. If you can't find bacon sliced pork, you can buy a regular pork belly and just thinly slice them with a sharp knife.
  2. Prepare the marinade: If you have a food processor, just add all the ingredients, except the pork, in the food processor, or even a blender, and let it all blend together until it forms like a paste or a puree. If you don't have one, just mince the pear, white onion, garlic, and ginger. Then, in a bowl, add the rest of the ingredients with the sliced green onions.
  3. Once you have prepared the marinade, add the pork. Massage the pork gently with the marinade. For best results, let this marinate overnight or a few hours.
  4. To cook, use a non-stick pan or pan griller. Place the pork on the heat pan one by one. Cook for a few minutes on each side or until cooked. Do not overcook so you won't burn you pan.
  5. Serve with some rice and kimchi and enjoy!
